David is a writer, professional stuntman, playwright, adjunct professor of screenwriting for NYIT of Manhattan, and serves on the Film Advisory Board for the Savannah, Gold Coast, First Time and Big Apple Film Festivals.
His very first film, LOVE LUDLOW, premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film festival, which Roger Ebert declared “Another Sundance Treasure.” It was also nominated for the HUMANITAS award and was successfully distributed through STARZ and Warner Home Video. David’s 2007 Disney hit, THE BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA, which he wrote and produced, was one of the most successful films of 2007.
David has served as a panelist for numerous film festivals in the U.S. and abroad, and is in great demand as a guest lecturer at colleges, universities and writer symposiums; most recently lecturing at Long Beach IFF, the RIO IFF in Brazil and USA FILM FESTIVAL in Dallas. His films have premiered at Sundance, Tribeca and Palm Springs Film Festivals, won many awards and accolades, and screened at over a 100 festivals worldwide. His latest film, THE GREAT GILLY HOPKINS, starring Glenn Close, Octavia Spencer, Kathy Bates and Julia Stiles is being released by Lionsgate in theaters this October.
