Actor, Writer, Producer & Director

Jeff is president of the motion picture production company, 72nd St. Films, LLC, and co-owner of the theater company, Clauchlu Studios.

He’s written and produced several feature films, including George Romero Presents…Deadtime Stories, Volumes One and Two, both of which have received distribution in the United States and worldwide.

As writer only, Jeff has had two additional feature films produced and distributed, One Way Out, with Michael Ironside, and Hits, with Martin Sheen.

Mr. Monahan was commissioned by Madcap to write the screen adaptation of the Harpers/Bantam novel, The Cain Conversion, by Richard Aellen, the short films, Ripples, for the Center for Victims of Violent Crime, and New Beginnings, for the YWCA, the feature film screenplays Near Death and In Red, for Romero/Grunwald Productions, and rewrites of three George Romero projects.

He has numerous scripts in development, including The Collaboration, with Malcolm McDowell, Bleed Deep, with Kane Hodder, Jack Ketchum’s Joyride, Fool’s Gold, with Aaron Eckhart, Blaze, with Al Pacino, and others.

Jeff studied with John Strasberg and theater legend, Robert Lewis, and appeared in leading roles in New York at The Producer’s Club, the Nuyorekan, TA-DA, and in the Tribeca Film Center’s Series, most notably as the serial killer, “Reach”, in Down the Road, directed by Lee Blessing and Jeanne Blake. He’s also acted in regional theater, including lead roles in Anna Karenina, Knives in Hens, Six Characters in Search of an Author and The Human Chair. Film work includes John Sayles’ Lone Star, with Matthew McConaughey, George Romero’s Bruiser and The Dark Half. Network TV features Target Earth on ABC, with Chris Meloni, Bet Your Life on NBC, with Billy Zane, and The War That Made America on PBS.

He’s taught screenwriting, producing, directing, acting technique and film production, and the business of Hollywood, most notably at Carnegie Mellon, Chatham University, Seton Hill University, Point Park, Pittsburgh Filmmakers and New York University.

He directed two episodes of Deadtime Stories, and the North American Premiere of Five Blue Haired Ladies Sitting on a Green Park Bench, starring Carol Cleveland of Monty Python’s Flying Circus. He also wrote, produced, directed and starred in Corpsing, a feature film which was released in the U.S. and worldwide in 2013.

Jeff works as a Story Analyst for Readers Unlimited in Los Angeles.

He’s now in Pittsburgh playing “Hiram” in WGN America’s series, Outsiders and doing pre-production on his feature film project, Off By Heart.  His website is
